A Facial mask formulation that incorporates bentonite clay along with other ingredients specifically chosen to hydrate, nourish, and cater to the needs of dry skin types. Bentonite clay is a highly absorbent substance that’s excellent for drawing impurities and oil from the skin, which can be beneficial for clearing pores and detoxifying the skin. However, its high absorbency level can be overly drying, especially for those with already dry skin.

+ Free ShippingUsing bentonite clay on dry skin can seem counterintuitive because bentonite clay is highly absorbent and can be quite drying. However, with the right additional ingredients, you can formulate a bentonite clay mask that benefits dry skin by detoxifying and gently exfoliating while also providing much-needed moisture and nourishment. Here’s how to make and use a bentonite clay mask tailored for dry skin:
Ingredients for a Dry Skin-Friendly Bentonite Clay Mask
Bentonite Clay: The base ingredient known for its detoxifying properties.
Hydrating Liquid: Instead of water, use hydrating liquids like rose water, milk, or aloe vera juice, which add moisture and have soothing properties.
Oil: Incorporate oils that benefit dry skin, such as jojoba oil, argan oil, or sweet almond oil, to provide emollient properties and help lock in moisture.
Honey: A natural humectant that helps retain moisture in the skin.
Yogurt: Contains lactic acid, which gently exfoliates while soothing and hydrating the skin.
Recipe for Dry Skin Bentonite Clay Mask
1 tablespoon of bentonite clay
2 tablespoons of rose water or aloe vera juice (adjust as needed to get the right consistency)
1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of oil (jojoba, argan, or sweet almond)
1 tablespoon of plain yogurt (optional for extra hydration and exfoliation)
Directions
Mix the Ingredients: In a non-metal bowl (using a plastic or wooden spoon), mix the bentonite clay with rose water or aloe vera juice until it forms a smooth paste. Avoid using metal utensils as they can react with the clay and reduce its effectiveness.
Add Moisturizing Ingredients: Stir in the honey, oil, and yogurt until everything is well combined.
Apply the Mask: Apply the mask to a clean face using your fingers or a mask brush. Spread it evenly, avoiding the eyes and mouth.
Leave on for 10-15 minutes: Allow the mask to dry partially. Unlike oily skin, where you might let the clay dry completely, for dry skin it’s better to wash it off before it fully dries to prevent it from drawing too much moisture out of your skin.
Rinse Off: Use warm water and a soft washcloth to gently remove the mask. Follow with a splash of cold water to close your pores.
Moisturize: Immediately apply a moisturizer to lock in hydration.
